Won’t the infrared sensors prevent the garage door from closing?
No, especially in this age of cross over SUVs, the sensors are mounted too low to sense the bumper. Most garage door opener manufacturers recommend mounting the sensors at a height of approximately 6". There is a good chance that if the infrared sensors are mounted high enough to hit your bumpers, they are probably too high to protect your children.
I rent my place, is BUMPERHERO for me?
Absolutely, it can be put on and taken off in seconds. You can take it with you when you move out.
Can't I just hang a tennis ball from my ceiling?
Short Answer: Yes
Long Answer: The tennis ball works if you park the same vehicle in the same garage spot. You are also left with a tennis ball hanging in the middle of your garage. BUMPERHERO is also a lot easier to install. No drilling required.
Is it universal?
It is pretty close. It is designed to work with Garage Door Hinge #1. This is the only middle hinge Lowes and Home Depot sell. It will fit many other less common hinges as well. If your hinge is about 3" wide and has a 1/2 diameter hole, it will likely fit. We also sell a silicone adapter if you have a 2" wide hinge. If you have questions about your hinge, contact us.
What happens when the door closes with BUMPERHERO installed?
One of two things will happen depending on the position of your vehicle and the type of garage door. The BUMPERHERO will either land on the bumper and cause the door to go back up or the BUMPERHERO will slide over the bumper and allow the door to close and open again. Can BUMPERHERO prevent scratched to my power liftgate or power hatch?
Yes, if you accidentally open your power liftgate or power hatch into your garage door, BUMPERHERO will prevent damage caused by the hatch hitting the exposed hinge. It will work when the garage door is open or closed. You just need to figured out which hinge(s) are going to contact the powerlift gate or hatch and cover that hinge with a BUMPERHERO.
